DIAGNOdent

Dental Care Northeast Philadelphia PADr. Mihalakis believes in preventive care, and one of their primary focuses is identifying hidden decay before it has the opportunity to destroy a patient’s tooth structure. While the prevalent use of fluoride has succeeded in making teeth harder and more resistant to decay, diagnosing cavities that exist beneath the hard surface of a tooth can sometimes prove challenging.

Today, however, we have a state-of-the-art tool at our disposal for early identification of decay and cavities, whether they lurk beneath the hard surface of a tooth or in the small spaces on, between, or around a tooth’s structure. This technology is a precise, laser scanning system called DIAGNOdent Dental Lasers.

While the science behind DIAGNOdent is complex, the procedure itself is simple, fast, and completely painless. We’ll glide a small, pen-like instrument over your teeth, and in a matter of minutes, your entire mouth will be scanned and evaluated. Just that fast, we’ll be provided with crucial information regarding the current state of your oral health.

Detecting and eradicating tooth decay at its earliest stages means less invasive dental procedures down the road, which also means minimum expense to you. With DIAGNOdent, keeping your smile strong, healthy, and beautiful has never been easier.

Prophy Jet Polishing System - Ultrasonic Scaler

Cosmetic Dentistry Bethlehem PAAt the Lehigh Valley Center for Dental Excellence, we use an ultrasonic scaler, which does a more thorough job in less time. This results in significantly decreased scaling time and healthier, cleaner teeth and gums. Hand scalers require repetitive scraping movements and are restricted to adaptation of only one or two sides of the instrument. In comparison, all four sides of a power scaler can be adapted, because the device moves in an elliptical motion. This comes in handy when removing stain and deposits from behind and between the teeth. Ultrasonic scalers are more effective in removing stain as well. The ultrasonic vibration helps control oral bacteria by breaking down the cell wall of the bacteria.

Dental Magnification Optics

You've always been told - seeing is believing. Dr. Mihalakis believes this as well, as she can't treat what she can't see, and exceptional dentistry requires an expert attention to detail. With the use of magnification optics, Dr. Mihalakis is able to visualize things not otherwise perceptible to the naked eye. Not only improving the quality of care for her patients, but the use of the magnification optics also allows for an expanded range of treatments offered.
